Synopsis of WWDC 2k7

I am currently a block away from my grace-land, and $1500 short of participating in the Apple greatness. As the keynote starts I am watch MacRumorsLive , & Engadget to get the latest news about whats going on. I have a friend inside watching the keynote but he is MIA.

appleI will be updating this post to give my responses to the news that comes via MacRumorsLive.

1. Gaming on Mac os x is one option I have been waiting for since getting my first MBP. Although I am not as much into gaming as I used to be. I would like to be able to log onto steam and play some CSS or DoD every once in a while.

2. They are talking about leopards new desktop features. I am not terribly excited for desktop features. The new stacking feature does look intriguing though. Also there is talk of a quick launch feature from the stacks. Could possibly be something like quicksilver which would be awesome.

3. The new Cover Flow feature is some eye candy for you. Allowing you to scroll through doc’s, pdf’s, and keynotes Everything.

4. New “Quick Look” feature sounds pretty sweet. Especially for non native apps that take forever to start up. Now you can preview without starting up the app.

5. iChat is looking really cool. Now we can stream video and keynotes while in a video conference. Also the new features like holographic mode and putting in different backgrounds, will be pretty fun.

6. Time Machine has good points and bad. It’s one of those things I don’t have much use for. I think that it could be useful for a lot of people though. My main concern in hard drive space???

7. Safari on Windows?

8. iPhone is awesome. Everyone knows that. Apple’s way of opening up the iPhone to developers. Not awesome. The reason is because they aren’t really opening anything up. They just say to make an iPhone compatible web app. Since the iPhone has full Safari support there is no need for developers to make actual applications. I believe that is Apple’s way of trying to avoid the fact that they don’t want to really give the iPhone to developers. Although being able to integrate with other iPhone apps is a plus. As long as developers have the same opportunity to make great applications for the iPhone I am happy.

That concluded the keynote and from reporters that were there, everyone had a really great time. Only 18 more days until the next big Apple news. Can’t wait.
